Ordered some handlebars from Amazon.ca on Aug 17. Canadian seller, east coast, shipped quickly via Canada Post expedited parcels. Item was scanned in, then nothing since. Was supposed to arrive 2 days ago. No movement, no further eta.
Ordered a phone from Bestbuy.ca. Shipped via UPS from Texas, because of course it did. Ground. Went from Texas to Richmond BC in 4 days. Apparently they need another 4 days to transport it the rest of the way, which would be a 20 minute drive.
Ordered a battery stick vacuum from Ebay. Seller is in California. Shipped via FedEx. Should be quick, right? Well not so fast, because Ebay loves their stupid global shipping program so much that vacuum was shipped from California to Kentucky, just to have a label affixed to it and then shipped to BC. Estimated travel time: 22 days. Twenty two fucking days.
I already stopped ordering stuff from China because they couldn't get anything here in less than 3 months. If I ever learn I'll stop ordering stuff altogether. Tired of paying shipping companies for services that they apparently aren't able to provide in a reasonable amount of time without ever seeing a cent back when they completely blow their one job.

I’ve had something coming from Richmond (!!) And it was supposed to arrive Monday....
Never discount the fact your package may be lying in a ditch. Ask me how I know...

I think customs is pretty backlogged lately and your CA->CA order might have been a fluke.
Additonally, there is a ton of strain on the logistics industry as a whole right now, many people are shopping exclusively online and these shipping companies you’re mad at, are trying to adjust to the new normal, with reduced workforces
Just my $0.02

UPS and Fedex do their own customs brokerage, and the packages have already cleared customs apparently. The companies just suck at doing their job.

I’m a returnable-packaging engineer, most interesting one was a multiple-rollover accident of a tractor trailer, and insurance asked that I look at the crates before writing them off.
Yeah they were hella gone bent, being parts for excavators, involved in a multiple roll accident.

Live in Hawaii sometime and then you can gripe about shipping!

I feel for you. Though we're Hawaii of the north, sorta.

Well yeah, you don't have to vacuum dirt floors.
